Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) in Mallorca has evolved within a few years from diving and wound medicine into a longevity building block.
IHHT – intermittent hypoxia-hyperoxia training, often marketed as “cell training” or “simulated altitude training” – is still a young offering in Mallorca: you lie or sit with a breathing mask and alternately breathe oxygen-poor air (as at 3,000 to 6,000 metres) and oxygen-rich air; a pulse oximeter controls the intervals.
Whole-body cryotherapy is probably the best-known longevity and recovery treatment in Mallorca: two to five minutes at −85 to −110 °C in the cryo chamber, followed by the famous endorphin rush.
Red light therapy – technically photobiomodulation – is available in Mallorca as a building block of recovery studios, longevity centres and clinics: full-body beds next to ice baths and infrared saunas in Palma, MCS light therapy at the longevity centre in Illetes, LED applications in aesthetic medicine clinics.
Intravenous infusions – from vitamin C and Myers’ cocktail to NAD+ – are the fastest-growing longevity segment in Mallorca: mobile services delivering the drip to hotel, villa or yacht, German-speaking practices in Palma, integrative centres in Manacor and clinics combining infusions with HBOT or procedures.
Measure instead of guess: body composition and fitness biomarkers are the foundation of every longevity strategy.
Hormone optimisation has arrived in longevity medicine: bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) in the menopause, testosterone therapy for proven deficiency in men, thyroid and adrenal diagnostics.
The longevity check-up is the pinnacle of preventive medicine in Mallorca: instead of the classic check-up with a dozen lab values, longevity clinics measure 70 to several hundred biomarkers, supplemented by epigenetic age, body composition, VO2max, microbiome, genetic and cardiovascular diagnostics – and translate all that into a personal plan for nutrition, training, sleep and treatments.
Infrared cabins in Mallorca come mostly bundled with ice baths: contrast therapy of cold and heat in Palma’s recovery studios and in the recovery room of a gym in the south-west – usually 30 to 45 minutes of deep heat, often combined with red light or compression.
Device-based compression therapy – known as recovery boots (Normatec, Art of Cryo Flow and others) or in Spanish as “presoterapia” – is the recovery classic from professional sport: pneumatic cuffs rhythmically pump legs, hips or arms from the bottom up, promote lymphatic and venous return and reduce swelling and muscle soreness.
Molecular hydrogen (H₂) is the newcomer in Mallorca’s longevity offering: via a nasal cannula you inhale a hydrogen-oxygen mixture for 30 to 60 minutes, or alternatively drink hydrogen-enriched water.
Ozone therapy in Mallorca is firmly anchored in physician-led complementary and pain medicine: medical ozone-oxygen therapy – usually as major autohaemotherapy, in which 50 to 200 ml of blood is enriched outside the body with a defined ozone-oxygen mixture and re-infused, plus rectal insufflation and local infiltrations.
Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) bridges sports medicine and longevity: focused or radial pressure waves stimulate tendons, fascia and muscles, dissolve calcifications and promote tissue regeneration – for heel spurs, tennis elbow, Achilles tendon or shoulder problems that become more frequent with age and slow down runners, golfers and cyclists.
