Critenais Centros Premium, General Riera. Nitrogen cryosauna: the body stands in nitrogen gas at −120 to −160 °C while the head stays outside. Cheaper to run, but without an even chamber temperature – the temperatures quoted refer to the gas flow. Mon–Fri 10–20, Sat 10–14.

Cryo chamber or ice bath?

The electric chamber delivers an extreme but dry cold stimulus to the skin – the body’s core barely cools down, and the response runs via vasoconstriction, endorphins and noradrenaline. The ice bath (water at 2 to 10 °C) draws heat away around 25 times faster than air, lowers the core temperature as well and is mentally more demanding. For recovery after exertion both show effects on muscle soreness and inflammatory markers; the chamber is quicker and cleaner, the ice bath cheaper and more intense.
